What Is
Intragastric Balloon?

The Intragastric Balloon is a weight loss procedure that involves the placement of a silicone balloon into the stomach. The balloon is filled with saline solution and takes up space in the stomach so that the patient feels full quicker, resulting in reduced food intake and weight loss. The balloon typically remains in place for up to six months before it is removed. It is typically used in conjunction with a reduced-calorie diet and regular exercise.

Finally, it is removed by endoscopic method under sedation anesthesia by endoscopic method.
    • No anesthesia or endoscopy is required for swallowable gastric balloons, but the balloon is inflated 500-600 cc after making sure that the swallowed balloon is in the proper place under scopic imaging. Since swallowable balloons are expelled by the body 4 months after application, they do not need to be removed again.

What Does The Intragastric Balloon Operation Involve?

All types of gastric balloons create a space-occupying volume in the stomach, creating a feeling of satiety with smaller portions, allowing the stomach contents to be emptied later, allowing the feeling of satiety to last longer, thus reducing daily calorie intake and providing weight loss. According to the results of many studies, an average of 10-20 kg (15-20% of body weight) can be given with a gastric balloon. For maximum effect, it must be supported with diet and sports. In addition, after the balloon is removed, the person should pay attention to his nutrition in order not to gain weight again.
